Wolf + Crow
Tampa Retail Branding, Marketing & eCommerce for a startup Mercantile
Wolf + Crow began as an idea: a modern mercantile rooted in Tampa Bay culture but inspired by desert light, coastal air, and well-worn stories. It was designed to be more than a store — it was envisioned as a creative outpost blending retail, coffee, texture, and narrative. A place for creatives, book-lovers and entrepreneurs to hang out around the Tampa area.
As both a Tampa web designer and brand strategist, I developed Wolf + Crow as a full-scale concept project — building the brand identity, retail environment, packaging system, merchandise line, and custom ecommerce website from the ground up. The goal was to demonstrate how a cohesive brand system can unify physical space and digital experience into one seamless story.

The Vision
Wolf + Crow was imagined as a boutique retail experience grounded in craftsmanship, regional identity, and thoughtful curation. The aesthetic blends Southwest warmth with Tampa’s coastal influence — layered brick, aged wood, woven lighting, desert tones, and curated objects that feel collected rather than manufactured.
The vision was not to create another generic retail shop, but to build a lifestyle brand that could live physically and digitally — from storefront signage to shopping bags to a fully custom ecommerce platform. Every detail needed to feel intentional, tactile, and rooted in place. For Tampa, a city constantly evolving, Wolf + Crow represents the independent maker spirit — built by creators, not corporations.
“Wolf + Crow was created to explore what happens when brand, space, and digital experience are designed together from the start.”

The Challenge
The challenge was building a brand that felt authentic, elevated, and scalable across multiple environments:
- A distinctive logo system with flexible lockups
- A retail-ready visual identity
- Print collateral and packaging
- Apparel and merchandise graphics
- A custom WordPress ecommerce website
- Mobile-first shopping functionality
- Cohesive environmental renderings
Many Tampa businesses struggle with fragmented branding — a logo here, a website there, inconsistent packaging, no system. The goal here was to prove what happens when branding, print design, and web development are developed as one strategic ecosystem from day one.
Brand Identity System
The Wolf + Crow identity was designed to balance duality — wild and grounded, desert and coastal, refined and raw. The wolf and crow symbolize instinct and observation, movement and awareness. The rising sun element reinforces warmth and optimism.
Typography pairs a structured serif foundation with a hand-script accent, allowing the brand to move between editorial storytelling and retail clarity. A restrained palette of sage, sand, rust, and off-white reinforces material authenticity across digital and print applications.
This identity system was intentionally built for expansion — adaptable for signage, apparel, packaging, web, and social.
Print, Packaging & Merchandise
Wolf + Crow’s physical touchpoints were designed as extensions of the brand — not afterthoughts. From custom matchboxes and hang tags to shopping bags, tote bags, and apparel graphics, every printed piece reinforces the same visual language: muted desert tones, heritage typography, natural textures, and intentional restraint.
Rather than treating merchandise as logo placement, each item was designed as part of a cohesive narrative system. Graphic tees featuring regional lockups like “Tampa, FL – A Modern Mercantile” and phrase-driven designs such as “Run Wild. Watch the Sky.” expand the brand beyond retail and into lifestyle. These pieces carry story, place, and tone — not just branding.
Packaging materials were selected to feel tactile and collected — kraft paper stocks, soft neutrals, minimal ink coverage, and balanced negative space. The goal was to create objects customers would want to browse, wear and keep.
By developing print collateral, packaging, and merchandise alongside the core brand identity and ecommerce platform, Wolf + Crow maintains consistency across every customer touchpoint — a critical factor for retail branding in Tampa’s growing boutique and lifestyle market.
Retail Environment Renderings
To visualize the physical space, interior renderings were created that showcase layered materials, woven pendant lighting, brick texture, desert tile, curated shelving, and a boutique coffee bar.
I guided the integration of space planning, architectural elements, and store layout to ensure the physical environment reinforced the Wolf + Crow brand at every level.
These environmental designs demonstrate how branding influences architecture and customer experience. Every surface — from the checkout counter to shelving displays — reinforces the identity.
For Tampa retail developers and entrepreneurs, this illustrates how brand-first thinking can shape an entire space before construction begins.
Website Presence
Website Design & WordPress Development
The Wolf + Crow website was developed as a fully custom WordPress build designed to reflect the brand’s tone, atmosphere, and material sensibility.
Instead of relying on templates, I created tailored page layouts that blend editorial storytelling with structured retail presentation. The site architecture was built for scalability, with a custom content structure, flexible templates, branded navigation, and a fully responsive layout.
The result is a digital experience that feels like a natural extension of the physical store. For businesses seeking Tampa web design that integrates branding with technical structure, this project demonstrates how WordPress can move far beyond off-the-shelf solutions.
Custom Ecommerce & Shopping Experience
Rather than defaulting to a traditional WooCommerce setup with full payment processing and plugin-heavy architecture, I designed a custom shopping platform tailored specifically for the Wolf + Crow concept.
Because the project was conceptual and portfolio-driven, the ecommerce system was intentionally structured to:
- Present curated collections
- Simulate product filtering and category navigation
- Showcase product detail pages
- Reinforce brand storytelling within the shopping flow
- Maintain a lightweight, streamlined backend
This approach allowed for full creative control over the shopping experience without unnecessary technical overhead. The result is a brand-forward ecommerce presentation — one that demonstrates how a boutique Tampa retail concept can deliver a curated, mobile-first shopping interface without relying on rigid, pre-built ecommerce frameworks.
